BE YOU!
Dressing yourself is hard enough without a camera pointed at you—so if you’re feeling a little nervous, that’s completely normal!
Most important tip? Comfort is EVERYTHING.
You should feel like you in your photos. If you're torn between that clingy new dress or your favorite go-to outfit—go with what moves with you and hugs you just right.
It doesn’t have to be jeans and a tee—dress it up if you love to—but authenticity photographs best. If you're after timeless photos, show up as yourself. That’s what you’ll love looking back on most.

STYLE TIPS: FOR HER
Start with your outfit: Choose what YOU love first, then style the rest of the family around that.
Comfort is key: My work involves lots of movement, so try sitting, walking, and twirling in your outfit before session day.
Dress styles: Midi or maxi dresses are usually best for mobility and elegance.
Shoes: Keep the location in mind—heels might be tricky if we’re in the woods or on the beach!
Flattering Your Features
Everyone has areas they’re more conscious of.
Choose silhouettes and colors that make you feel confident!
Sleeves: Three-quarter sleeves are super flattering on camera.
Strapless? Not ideal for photos if you're unsure—go for what you know feels and looks good!
Accessories: Simple earrings or a bold hat can add visual interest without being distracting.
Hair and Makeup
Professional hair and makeup? YES.
It photographs beautifully and takes the stress off you. Natural light application is best. If it feels “too much,” trust that a good artist knows how to enhance your beauty just right for the camera.
Doing it yourself? Totally fine!
But false lashes are highly recommended—they help eyes pop, even with great mascara.

HOW TO PREP THE MEN
Let’s be real—most guys don’t dream of photo day. But a little prep goes a long way.
Share why these photos matter to you.
Let him know it’s not stiff posing—I focus on natural, candid moments.
I promise: he’ll be surprised by how fun and easy it is
Picking Colors
You can either complement the environment or contrast with it.
A mustard dress in a green forest? Yes!
Neon pink polka dots on the beach? Maybe not.
Limit your family’s palette to 3–4 coordinating tones.
Feature one standout piece, then style the rest around it.
Pro Tip: Remember the color wheel from high school art class? This is a good reference!

STYLING THE KIDDOS
Keep hairstyles simple and pretty—braids or natural textures work great.
Be ready to pivot for weather—layers are your best friend.
Cold or hot kiddos = cranky kiddos.
Dress accordingly, even if it means switching plans last minute
Please Avoid This!
Limit sun exposure before your session!
Sunburns and tan lines = extra editing fees ($100/hour), and no one wants that.
Do you want to wear your watch in the photos? Most have a watch tan line if you remove it.
Best Tips for Happy, Cooperative Kids
This part’s extra important—don’t skip it!
The Day of:
Build in extra time to get ready and travel.
Make this your main activity of the day—no rushing!
Pack non-messy snacks for breaks.
Set the Vibe:
Stressed parents = stressed kids. If you’re calm and having fun, they will too!
For older kids, share why these photos are meaningful.
Give them (and yourself) grace. Life happens—and I’ve seen it all! I’ll guide you every step of the way.
Water-Friendly Sessions
Most of my sessions are near water, and we usually end the shoot there if weather allows. Bring towels if you're open to getting wet—you might want to wade in!

Final Note:
The most important part isn’t the perfect outfit or ideal lighting—it’s the memories you make together.
Laugh, love, play, be present.
I’ll handle the rest. Can’t wait to create magic with you!
Morgan 💛
